It was a single-minded panel of judges, who on Thursday evening at Det Musiske Hus handed out the Tonevaerk Prize to Peter Astrup, the man behind the Blues Heaven in Frederikshavn. Together with the price follows 20,000 kroner ($3,000)

In the motivation it was mentioned:

“Peter Astrup is the one in Danish festival context and a respected promoter within the genre in Denmark and abroad. He walks around at home among the greatest artists and the most terrifying music salesmen around the world - and especially in the home country of blues music, USA. And from here he manages to bring large, international artists to North Jutland, Denmark, and Europe. In recent years, the festival has grown - first out of Frederikshavn Company clubs' halls, then out of Det Musiske Hus - and now the festival is located in Arena Nord with room to think big. ”

Tonevaerk is founded by The Det Musiske Hus and Royal Beer, and the music prize is awarded to musicians, industry people, organizers or people in the music culture, who through their work have worked to strengthen the rhythmic music in North Jutland.

This is the second time the prize is awarded.

The judging panel for the 2019 award were:
Hanne Elkjær, Danish Music Association Aalborg
Signe Wang Carlsen, musician
Søren Kepler, musician
Peter Christian Jensen, Royal Beer
Jens Ole Amstrup, venue leader, The Det Musiske Hus
