Interessen er eksploderet totalt omkring “Monster” Mike Welch og sangeren Mike Ledbetter i kølvandet på pladeudgivelsen "Right Place, Right Time".

The Blues Music Awards “Acoustic Artist Of The Year” og “Acoustic Album Of The Year”.
Joanna turnerede i Europa imponerende 32 gange i perioden 1990-1999.

George er for alle blues-mundharpe elskere “The King of the Chromatic Harmonica”. Bandet består bl.a. af Europas 3 fineste mundharpe-spillere. England

New UK Artist of the Year”.

🇬🇧 Blues Heaven Festival once again sprinkles stardust over Freddy's Bar.
Traditions will be upheld during the 1st weekend of November in connection with the 13th annual celebration of Blues Heaven in Frederikshavn. Blues Heaven’s official Juke Joint Freddy's Bar will again host 3 concerts in the intimate and atmospheric venue during the festival.

In fact, in Freddy's Bar on Thursday, 1st, November we present the American, The Welch Ledbetter Connection - this is for the benefit and pleasure of the locals and the many foreign guests who like to meet early on the 1st evening before the festival, which begins on Friday.
This is a super booking for blues people. The interest has totally exploded around "Monster" Mike Welch and singer Mike Ledbetter because of their "Right Place, Right Time" record release. What we get presented from them, has not been heard since the glory days of Otis Rush, Magic Sam, and B.B. King. The comparisons go back to the collaboration between Buddy Guy and Junior Wells. Their journey began more or less randomly. On Sunday, 12th, June 2016, "The Mikes" participated in a tribute concert to legendary Otis Rush at the Chicago Blues Festival's main stage in Central Park in front of 100,000 people. The chemistry between the two was so intense and so spontaneous that it became clear that these two super talents had to do more together. Now, 2 years later, they are on everyone's lips all across the world.

Friday 2nd, November at 13:00, Doug MacLeod winner of the Blues Music Awards "Acoustic Artist of the Year" and "Acoustic Album of the Year" two years in a row will perform his songs. They have been recorded by Albert King, Albert Collins, Joe Louis Walker and many more. Doug is a musician's musician, and he is rightly regarded as one of acoustic blues music's major names. Doug's warm voice, knowledge and mood, and in particular, his appearance and charming stage manner has meant that it will be the 4th time he will perform in Frederikshavn, which is a record.

After an easy and relaxed beginning we have at 14:00 a real "power on the guitar" with Joanna Connor, a hard-working slide mom from Chicago. Joanna was born in Brooklyn in 1962 and grew up in Massachusetts. She got her first guitar at the age of 7 and studied classical music during her formative years. Blues music brought her to Chicago where she got her first record deal in 1989. From 1990-1999 Joanna toured Europe 32 times. Following this, she had children and was only able to play in Chicago for many years. They have now flown the nest and she has resumed touring. A recent clip on YouTube with views over 1.3 Million, proves that many still remember and want to see this powerful and talented guitarist.

Then on noon on Saturday 3rd of November, there will be a world premiere of "Tribute to George ‘Harmonica’ Smith" a tribute to the legend born 22nd, April 1924, in Helena, Arkansas and died on 2nd, October 1983 in Los Angeles. George is to all blues-harp lovers, "The King of the Chromatic Harmonica". The band consists of Europe's 3 finest harp players. England is represented by Steve ‘West’ Weston, with the Italian colors being superbly displayed by Egidio ‘Juke’ Ingala, and finally Helge Tallqvist, from Finland, who toured with the great champion in Los Angeles in the early 80's. Backing the three indistinguishable artists are Italian band, The Jackknives, who also count Ronni Boysen as a member, and who, in connection with Trainman Blues, recently won 2 Danish awards, "Album of the Year" and "Danish Blues Challenge of the Year".
"Special Guest" this afternoon will feature the world's current youngest, and biggest guitar phenomenon, 13-year-old, Toby Lee, who proudly boasts a whopping 110+ Million views on a movie clip on Facebook from last year's Blues Heaven Festival. Toby was also recently featured on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" at Universal Studios in LA and recently won the UK Blues award for "Young Artist of the Year 2018". The young guitar darling has taken the world by storm and meeting Toby Lee will be an additional opportunity from Blues Heaven, to those who want to experience the 13-year-old superstar in an intimate setting. Again this year, Toby will also perform in several jam sessions with the stars on larger stages at the festival.

"It is wonderful that we can help create so much positive blues activity out with the festival," announces organizer Peter Astrup, who has recently won the Danish Music Award "The Hoochie Coochie Man”. Peter goes on to say that every year more and more guests come to Freddy’s to discover the enjoyment of listening to the blues and soul music, and go on to buy their tickets for the whole festival; "Yes, our guests from abroad, and again, this year from 13 different countries, are pleased because they can experience wonderful music in all shades of blue in Frederikshavn," says Peter, who continues his desire to involve the city as a host city. The musicians, the passionate music lovers and the townspeople of Frederikshavn all love it, so everyone is happy, adds Peter Astrup, who will hold the festival for the 2nd year in a row at the mighty Arena Nord.
